This is the specialized mountain-troop version of the Lafette 34, distinguished by its adjustable mountain-leg system designed for deployment on steep and uneven terrain. The Gebirgslafette 34 was developed for German Gebirgsjäger mountain troops, providing greater positioning flexibility than the standard Lafette 34. Its specialized adjustable leg arrangement allowed the MG34 mount to be positioned on difficult terrain while retaining the cradle, traverse, and elevation capabilities of the Lafette system.
