Dimming of the silver shine (for lack of a better word) on the pips themselves. One looks almost rustyish in color? Right side is of Black wool and silver bullion handy work..
There are no rips or moth holes in the wool. There are no broken threads of bullion. Each collar tab has a RZM tag but they don't look to be a matching pair of tabs because the tags on each one differ from one and the other, (maybe issued at different times do to movement up in rank or damage). Both tags are different in numbers and look to also be a bit different in size. The one on the back of the rank tab is completely sewn onto the collar tab but the one on the unit tab is only sewn on in two corners (looks like the sewing was stopped so it would not puncture the bullion thread on the front) but seems to be pasted on as well.
There is some damage to both tags. Some loose threads are still present from removal of tabs from coat. The Tunic came from the Historical Museum of Military History in State College Pennsylvania.. They were part of the William Piper Collection. Please ask all the questions you may have and read all descriptions on all items. We are here to help..
