German WW2 Signal Officer Gepack- Kasten. Storage box for signal equipment/ tools/personal items. Sturdy 1/2 pine construction tbroughout w/ metal reinforcement on top corners & along top edges of lid. Metal hinges & hasp closure w/webbing, carry strap reinforced w/ leather. Carrying strap can slide up & down. Custom made 1-1/2 deep insert tray for small items. Inside of lid has a rigid cloth strap for holding maps, papers, etc. Shellac finish throughout w/ oil based, flat field grey paint.
Interior is finished w/ wood stain & shellac w/ webbing strip around top edge to act as a moisture seal. Has seen prior field use but has been completely refurbished & repainted. 11" L x 11" W x 10 H.
