WW2 German Reproduction M36 Mountain Trousers Grey Wool Steingrau Berghosen Appears to be Lost Battalions by the quality, stitching, button, etc. But no tags Size 38 x 34.
Estate item from smoke free home, should be cleaned anyway. Taken from the Lost Battalions web site: The Berghosen were specialized mountain trousers intended for climbing and skiing issued to Gebirgsjäger, Jäger , and Skijäger troops.
There were several pattern variations used over the course of the war and they were made in stone gray until about mid-1940, then in field gray after that. The stone gray continued to be issued well into the war out of earlier stockpiles.
Our pattern was taken from a pair owned by one of the leading Gebirgsjäger collectors in the US. This style has no seat reinforcement and unflapped pockets. There is a sewn-in crease on the front of the trousers and the lower legs are sharply tapered, with side slit and leather belts on each ankle.
Hooks on the belts allow the trouser ends to be hooked to the mountain boots. Matching M36 tunic listed in another listing.
